🇺🇸 Update for Our U.S. Customers: Original Artworks from Artimia Remain Duty-Free
If you’re based in the United States and you collect original artworks from Artimia, here’s a quick update that may be helpful.
The U.S. has recently introduced several changes to its import rules, including new tariff measures and the removal of the de minimis exemption. This exemption previously allowed low-value parcels to enter the country without duties or extra processing. With its removal, some shipments may now go through additional customs checks or incur small handling fees charged by certain carriers (usually under $20).
The good news:
Original artworks — such as sculptures and drawings — are still exempt from U.S. import duties under current law.
This exemption is part of the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS Chapter 97) and the cultural materials provisions of 50 U.S.C. §1702(b). In other words, original works created by the artists we represent can continue to enter the U.S. without import tariffs.
To keep your experience smooth, I personally prepare all the required customs documentation for every shipment.
Everything is described and classified accurately, and I update the paperwork whenever U.S. customs requirements change. This helps ensure that your artwork travels safely and arrives without unnecessary delays.
It’s important to note that U.S. regulations can change at any time, and I’ll keep monitoring any updates closely. If anything significant shifts, I’ll make sure to communicate it here and through our newsletter.
If you have any questions about shipping artwork to the United States — or about a specific piece you’re considering — feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to help.
Thanks so much for your continued support and trust.
