In this sculpture, Tomás Barceló delves into the duality between the human and the animal, shaping a face that blends classical beauty with the unsettling essence of the supernatural. The rough texture and shades of pink, green, and turquoise give the piece a worn and ancient appearance, as if it were a relic from another time.
The horns framing the figure and the pointed ears emphasize its hybrid nature, while the serious expression and intense gaze suggest an entity full of mystery and symbolism.
This piece is an exploration of the boundary between the natural and the supernatural, a representation of the duality that defines our perception of the monstrous and the beautiful.
Sculpture modeled in fine grog refractory clay and reproduced in resin. Painted with shellac, chalk paint, acrylics, ferric paint, and varnish.
