This intricate exploration of biomechanical aesthetics takes form in this mesmerizing collection of robotic visages, each one an artifact of an imagined future where technology and ornamentation become inseparable.

These mechanized masks, adorned with delicate filigree, evoke a sense of ritualistic mysticism, as if they were remnants of an ancient cybernetic civilization. Their hauntingly expressive eyes and elaborate engravings suggest sentience, wisdom, and perhaps a forgotten purpose.

Barceló’s mastery of line and texture gives each face a unique identity, blurring the boundaries between machine and myth, art and automation. This set of designs invites the viewer to contemplate the beauty of artificial life and the stories these mechanical beings might tell.

About the artist

Tomás Barceló

Tomás Barceló, a Mallorcan sculptor and disciple of the master J.S. Jassans at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona, blends his passion for archaic sculpture with assemblage and polychromy.

Throughout his life, his boundless curiosity has led him to roles as a teacher, lifeguard, mariachi, bagpiper, film sculptor, and gallery artist, among others. His work is the culmination of his love for form and color, inspired by ancient art in his youth, fantasy and science fiction in his teenage years, and building toys from his childhood.

With each piece, Barceló seeks to restore sculpture to its place as a popular art, accessible and present in every home once again.
