This artwork presents a mesmerizing fusion of biomechanics and ancient symbolism, weaving together the organic and the mechanical in a seamless tapestry of form and function.

A cybernetic profile emerges from the composition, its human-like contours merging into an intricate system of pipes, gears, and conduits, hinting at a civilization where the line between human and machine has long since blurred.

Ornate filigree and cryptic glyphs adorn the structure, suggesting an encoded wisdom or a forgotten language of power. A striking red emblem punctuates the composition, acting as a focal point—perhaps a sigil of authority, a power source, or an artifact of reverence.

Tomas Barcelo

About the artist

Tomás Barceló

Tomás Barceló, a Mallorcan sculptor and disciple of the master J.S. Jassans at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona, blends his passion for archaic sculpture with assemblage and polychromy.

Throughout his life, his boundless curiosity has led him to roles as a teacher, lifeguard, mariachi, bagpiper, film sculptor, and gallery artist, among others. His work is the culmination of his love for form and color, inspired by ancient art in his youth, fantasy and science fiction in his teenage years, and building toys from his childhood.

With each piece, Barceló seeks to restore sculpture to its place as a popular art, accessible and present in every home once again.
