This sculpture frames the face of Kalix within a structure that resembles both a reliquary and an ancient technological device. The solemn expression and piercing eyes of the figure are surrounded by geometric forms and mechanical elements, enhancing its enigmatic presence.
The bluish and rust- like tones evoke the patina of time, suggesting an artifact that has endured through forgotten eras. In this piece, Tomás Barceló merges the sacred with the artificial, creating an iconic and ambiguous image that seems to hold a secret yet to be revealed.
Sculpture modeled in clay, carved plaster, and repurposed objects. Reproduced in resin with new details by assembling repurposed objects and epoxy putty. Painted with shellac, chalk paint, acrylics, and varnish.
