A sculpture that combines the forms of a mandrill with the formal language of a 1940s automobile. The animal anatomy is transformed through rounded volumes, metallic surfaces, and details that evoke the bodywork and mechanical elements of vehicles from that era. The polychromy, in ochre, green, and reddish tones, together with the weathered finish, reinforces the character of a strange hybrid between creature and machine.
Sculpture carved in plaster, based on a cast from a fine grog refractory clay model, and reproduced in resin. Painted with shellac, chalk paint, acrylics, and varnish.
