Tomás Barceló
Freestanding sculpture
The childlike face, with closed eyes and sealed lips, appears immersed in an ancient slumber, as if it had lain for centuries in a mineral silence. The textured, pigmented surface recalls the erosion of stone by time, yet also suggests the tenderness of sleeping clay, as though every crack held a warm, domestic, intimate memory.
Sculpture carved in plaster, based on a cast from a fine grog refractory clay model, and reproduced in resin. Painted with shellac, chalk paint, acrylics, and varnish.
