Tomás Barceló
Wall-mounted sculpture
A low relief inspired by the story of Jonah, shown here in the dramatic moment of his descent into the great fish. Two figures try to hold him from above, while the flowing lines of the water wrap the scene in a gentle yet irresistible motion. The bluish patina and textured surface give the piece the feel of an ancient plank, like a fragment of sacred narrative etched into weathered wood.
The original piece was created through direct carving on a plaster slab, allowing the form to emerge directly from the block. Once completed, the work is molded and reproduced in resin, preserving every mark and texture of the original. Subtle finishes and light touches of color are then applied to the resin cast, giving each piece its own character.
