This piece highlights the robotic skull, evoking a technological memento mori, contrasting with the face of an elderly woman carved in aged wood. The skull, with its metallic and mechanical details, symbolizes the coldness and permanence of the machine, while the human face, marked by the passage of time, reflects the fragility and impermanence of life. The intricate ornamental details surrounding both figures add a ceremonial dimension, creating a tension between the human and the artificial, the ephemeral and the eternal.
Sculpture modeled in clay, carved plaster, and repurposed objects. Reproduced in resin with new details by assembling repurposed objects and epoxy putty. Painted with shellac, chalk paint, acrylics, and varnish.
