This rusted, pupil-less face seems to have emerged from an era beyond memory. Its metallic skin, worn by time and salt, still holds a solemn gravity, like a funerary mask or a reliquary from another world. The closed lips and austere design evoke silence, restraint, and waiting. There is no expression of emotion nor trace of humanity, and yet its presence is impossible to ignore.
Sculpture carved in plaster, based on a cast from a fine grog refractory clay model, and reproduced in resin. Painted with shellac, chalk paint, acrylics, and varnish.
